I was craving banh mi and decided to give top of the hill a try since I walk by this spot daily and saw that they have banh mi. I parked on the side streets since I was too cheap to pay the meter parking spot on bepler St. I was there at around 1pm and there were plenty of seats available for indoor dining. I ordered the combo of ham and the employee asked if I wanted spicy, which I said yes. After 3 minutes the sandwich was ready and it was quite delicious. There were plenty of veggies and meat. I wished there were more patate and wish the bread to be more toasty to get a 5 stars. For 10$ a banh mi it's on the pricey side though.
Yelp led us to this neighborhood gem in Daly City. My daughter had an early morning dance lesson so she had skipped breakfast and was famished. We found nearby street parking and walked to the corner shop. Immediately, your eyes are drawn to the large case of donuts. The shop is large and airy withe a few small tables. Two staff members were busy filling to-go orders. I ordered a pink donut(forever a fave) and we ordered our breakfasts: Thai Tea with boba and sausage and egg on a sesame bagel for me, breakfast burrito and fresh strawberry smoothie for my daughter. one of the staff members walked our orders to our table. The food was exactly what we needed after a busy early morning.
This is def your mom and pop breakfast spot. Coffees donuts breakfast. Can't tell you how many times I've ordered donuts for coworkers here and had to grab an egg cheese and turkey sandwich. It's really buttery and cheese and good. It's a great way to start your day take it from me sometimes I grab it on a croissant sometimes on toast. With a cup of coffee what else could you want or need.
Reliable and tasty spot, with reasonable pricing if you get breakfast here regularly. Filling breakfast sandwiches. Tasty Bahn Mi if you're looking for lunch. Service is efficient, just be a bit more patient if you go during a busy breakfast rush. Some seating if you want to stay a bit, but more of a grab and go vibe. Their donuts are just the best and what keeps me coming back :)
Happened to be walking by toward the end of the day and the fresh, lovely smell of donuts wafted out the front door and beckoned me in. I decided to make an impromptu stop in and grab a few donut holes and a chocolate old-fashioned for a pre-dinner treat. Even though it was the end of the day, all the donuts tasted very freshly made and were delicious. The kids and I scarfed them down right away. Better to bring cash if possible - for anything less than $5, a 50-cent charge will be added if you pay with a card.
I've been in a bagel kick lately and wanted to check out a local place. The other places I've tried have been more pricey. They have a large selection of donuts, fresh coffee and different sandwiches to choose from. My go is the egg and cheese bagel add cream cheese. It's perfectly toasted and satisfies my bagel cravings! I've had the coffee and donuts here too and they're pretty standard. The workers here are nice and there's plenty of locals who come here for their morning fix. Would recommend!
Been here a number of times over the past few years, so here is a long overdue review! Consistent, fresh donuts with an appropriate amount of glaze. I always go for the chocolate raised, hubby likes plain old-fashioned, and my daughter loves their sprinkle cake donut of course. $9.5/half dozen, $18/dozen, or $1.75 each. Twists $3. Credit card min is $10. There is typically a little line (because everyone likes the donuts!), but the single server is super quick. All the customers seem to be regulars, and accordingly don't take a long time to order, so there's not much wait at all. Metered street parking only, though people tend to park illegally to run in and grab donuts. Definitely our go-to non-hipster donut spot and more reasonably-priced than others. Spacious interior with a plenty of glass fridges filled with drinks. They also make smoothies, savory breakfast items, boba, etc. but I always stick to donuts so I haven't tried those. If they were to close off/cover the storage items, the place would aesthetically look/feel much nicer; but I usually just quickly pickup donuts so no matter to me!
Friendly staff and tasty donuts! Got a box of donut assortment and some donut holes. Donut holes are fluffy and not dense. Easy to snack on (such as when driving). The other donuts are fluffy and will be great to share with friends!
Ladies and gentlemen, here's our best cover band, the Chubby Carpenters... (sound of one hand clapping) "I'm at the Top of the Hill Lookin' down on creation And the only explanation I can find Is the cellulite I've found, ever since you've been around Your carbs put me at the Top of the Hill..." Actually if Karen Carpenter became a regular here, would she be in the middle of her Vegas residency now? Something to ponder. In the meantime, there wasn't that much of a hill, though there was a definite incline when I walked over from the Daly City BART station. I really had no intention to stop here, but who intentionally eats a donut? The Chubby Carpenters, I guess. There was quite a donut selection here, not the fancy artisan type displayed under glass on pedestals. No, they're mostly the regular Joe Schmo types. I had two just because I can't have just one - a Plain Old Fashioned and a Maple Glazed Cake with Coconut (photo: https://bit.ly/3KMmuCs). Just a $1.50 each. They were good, not stale considering it was early afternoon. It just made me want to sing... "I'm at the Top of the Hill Lookin' down on my thighs And the only explanation I can find Are the donuts I have found, ever since you've been around Your carbs put me at the Top of the Hill..." DONUTS - 4 stars...good industrial donuts AMBIANCE - 3 stars...pretty standard spot that serves bagels and sandwiches as well SERVICE - 3.5 stars...minimal interaction though what there was was on point TOTAL - 4 stars...Let Karen have her donuts RELATED - Exploring the peninsula?
